Summary
Since beginning my career in IT several years ago, I have become increasingly interested in unique problem solving which lends itself perfectly to Project Management. As a Project Manager, I not only get to use my troubleshooting skills to solve technical problems, but also on how to solve human problems; I find great satisfaction in hearing of a problem or inefficiency and translating that into requirements for a solution and then seeing that solution successfully implemented.
Experience
T Frost Consulting
1/16 – Present
I started a consulting company part-time and it quickly grew. I am a sole proprietor servicing small businesses’ Project Management and Web Design needs. I handle all aspects of the business including marketing, Project Management, Accounting, Customer Service and Web Design. I wear many hats, but I get the most satisfaction from translating the customer’s needs into a project and then completing that project.
- Office Move for Hartree Partners. Worked with General Contractor on floorplan and construction. Coordinated subcontractors, IT, AV and Utility Vendors, movers. Communicated build-out plan and move schedule to end users. Supervised breakdown, move and setup of all IT equipment, furniture, appliances, AV equipment, etc. As the office lost its lease expectantly, the move schedule was shortened, but I was able to complete the build-out and move two weeks ahead of the deadline.
Buckeye Partners
9/15 – 6/16 Terminal Scheduler
Buckeye is the oldest and one of the largest liquid petroleum pipeline operators in the United States. On a daily I handle several hundred thousands of barrels of products moving in and out of a dozen terminals. I also manage facility maintenance and upgrade planning.
- I joined Buckeye about three months after my predecessor had left. My external customers, while being adequately served, had several complaints about service and communication. Within the 1st 6 weeks I reached out to every one of them, talked about their pain points and adjusted communication and processes to fit their needs.
- Shortly before I started a tank was taken out of service at one of my facilities. It was to be out for 6 months causing our customers to take some of their business elsewhere. Further, our customers were unsure about the status of the project. I scheduled a meeting with all the stakeholders and got a clearer understanding of the plan. We were able to adjust the project plan, provide regular updates to our customers and get the tank back in service 3 months sooner than expected. This will allow the company to generate thousands of dollars a month in revenue 3 months sooner, and increase customer satisfaction.
World Fuel Services
10/14 – 9/15 Senior Scheduler – Gas and Diesel
WFS is a Fortune 100 global energy trading company focused in petroleum products. I was recruited by a former manager to join as a senior scheduler to manage daily logistics for four different books of business, equating to millions of barrels of fuel moved monthly, as well as to improve processes.
- Within the first month I became an expert on the logistical movements of the books I schedule, proficient in the software used to account for trade activity, and centralized data archiving by creating a SharePoint site for my team’s use.
- I identified an inefficient process a trader was using to enter trades and helped him automate it, saving him three hours of manual work a day. This directly translates into more time the trader has to focus on improving his strategies.
- Proposed a solution to an antiquated manual process that was causing numerous billing errors and dissatisfaction from our customers. Once implemented, the solution has saved many man hours of work and decreased errors, saving the company money and improving business.
Insight Global
8/14-10/14 Project Manager Consultant at Walgreens
I consulted at Walgreens, a major US retailer and online pharmacy, as a Project Manager leading IT projects at the corporate headquarters.
- During my 3 month tenure, successfully managed several major SDLC projects working with onshore as well as offshore teams.
Sun Trading LLC
4/14-7/14 Project Manager
Sun is a Chicago based proprietary trading firm of approximately 120 employees. I was hired for the newly created Project Management role to manage implementation of new trading venues.
- I took on a team of six core developers who were struggling to prioritize their workload and to understand business requirements. I advocated on behalf of my team, setting realistic timelines with the business, translating needs, and fostering communication. During my time we started doing daily stand-ups to discuss achievements and roadblocks and successfully delivered over two dozen SDLC projects.
- The accounting department had been struggling to implement a new version of Great Plains for over a year. Because they were on an older version they were not able to take advantage of some of the features that would allow them to be more efficient. I managed the project, worked with an external consultant as well as internal developers, and we had the new version implemented in six weeks.
Mercuria Energy Trading Inc
12/11–4/14 Project Manager/Fuel Scheduler
Mercuria is a multi-billion dollar, international trading company based in Geneva Switzerland. Though I was hired initially as part of the IT team, within a few months the President of North America saw that my skills would be better utilized on the logistics team. I was moved over and oversaw the operations for the entire trucking business in North America as well as all the new office build-outs nationwide.
- Promoted within one month of moving to logistics team and began supervising local and remote employees.
- Responsible for all crude oil via truck in TX, OK and ND
- Supply/Demand coordination
- Monthly Settlement
- Coordination of movements with Rail and Pipeline schedulers
- I took an antiquated system of tracking Crude Oil on paper tickets and turned it into an automated system that saw in immediate gain for our trading team. Off the shelf solutions were quoted at a millions dollars with 9-12 month’s to implement. My solution cost 15k and was implemented successfully in 6 weeks.
- While the company was rapidly increasing headcount and opening new offices, I was solely responsible for managing the entire build-out process. This included working with the local realtors to secure space, negotiating the leases, procuring all furniture, networking and computer equipment, selecting finishes, working with general contractors and architects on design and work schedules, sourcing and overseeing sub-contractors and vendors, and doing the final walk-thru to verify punch-list completion.
DRW Holdings
3/08-10/11 Executive Support Engineer
DRW is a multi-million dollar proprietary trading firm with approximately 400 US employees. When I was hired, it was not only my technical abilities that helped me obtain the role, but also my ability to communicate with C-level employees.
- Though my daily responsibilities had me providing technical support to twenty-six partners and executives, I was able to manage several projects that benefitted the firm as a whole. One such project was utilizing Powershell to monitor computers for various metrics including CPU utilization, disk space, and system errors. This enabled me and my team to proactively address potential issues and minimize downtime for our customers.
- The office moved across the Loop and I was responsible for managing a large group of traders as well as all the executive desktop moves. This was done over several weekends with minimal downtime.
- Though I was not on the Telecom team, I assisted and managed the deployment of 150 Cisco VoIP phones and the migration to CUCM from an Avaya system.
- When we closed a remote office, I successfully managed the project that had my team migrate twelve traders and their multiple workstations to the Chicago office. They stopped working at 4pm on Friday afternoon and were up and running with no delay on Monday morning at 7am.
